Gas Chambers

CO2 gas chambers have been used for decades to kill animals in slaughter houses. We’ve been lied to about humane killing by the government and industry. CO2 is torture as animals don’t die instantly, but rather slowly burn and suffocate.
They won’t use carbon monoxide that kills with no pain because it’s lighter than air, thus when chambers are opened it will escape and be a danger to workers and it’s more expensive. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air, easier to handle and cheap.
It’s claimed this is more humane than electrocution as pigs are group animals and can die as a group.
For chickens it’s claimed it’s better because it doesn’t require them to be handled to be hung upside-down to have their heads dipped in electrified water. It also has a 100% death rate, unlike electrocution.

The only gas chamber footage comes from activists planting hidden cameras.

The industry never wanted us to see this.

These videos may cause distress, but sticking your head in the sand causes more distress.

UK:
From the RSPCA. The irony of this is they still give their Assured stamp to animal products created using this grizzly method because they get paid for it!

Compassion in World Farming:

The same gas is used on chickens and turkeys. There’s no footage of turkeys or chickens in the meat industry being killed this way.

The same gas is used on male chicks in the egg industry. There’s no footage of this to be found.

This has been going on for decades, but an activist captured the first US footage in recent years.

What’s weird about the Daily Mail comments is that whenever an article exposes animals suffering everyone says it’s wrong, yet when they have an article about vegans the top comments are vegan-haters, when vegans are the only group not supporting this and trying to stop it.

In August 2024 footage of hens, whose egg production had declined, being tortured in gas chambers was obtained. The video shows Red Tractor and RSPCA approved standard practice.
